2008 Youthlinks Indiana Charity Golf Tournament and Pathfinders Awards Banquet

Youthlinks Indiana, co-presented by Indiana Sports Corporation and Indiana Black Expo, continues the motto of “Having Fun and Helping Kids”.  Consisting of the Pathfinder Awards Banquet and the scramble golf tournament, Youthlinks Indiana has earned its reputation as one of the nation’s best charity golf events.  Net proceeds from Youthlinks Indiana support and benefit underserved youth throughout the state of Indiana and the sports programs and initiatives that serve those kids.  Over the years, more than $5.4 million in event proceeds has been distributed back into the community through the CHAMPS (Champions in Life) Grants Program and many other programs.  In 2007, more than 2,600 kids were directly impacted through organizations that received CHAMPS Grants.  

Volunteers have been a key to this event’s success over the years.  The two-day event provides many unique opportunities to be a part of this classic charity golf event. 

The Pathfinder Awards Banquet is scheduled for the evening of Sunday, June 29 at Conseco Fieldhouse.  The awards presentation recognizes and honors individuals on both national and state levels who have directly contributed to improving the lives of today’s youth.  The award recipients for 2008 will be announced in the near future. 

This year’s Youthlinks Indiana Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, June, 30 at five premier Indiana golf courses: The Brickyard Crossing, The Country Club of Indianapolis, Crooked Stick Golf Club, Meridian Hills Country Club, and Woodland Country Club.

Key volunteer information you should know:

1.  REQUIREMENTS:  All volunteers are requested to register for a minimum of two (2) volunteer shifts. Training is not required for all volunteer positions. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.  VOLUNTEERS DESIRING A DRIVER POSITION MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OLD AND NOT OVER 65.  Interested volunteers should download the Driver Screening Application and must attach a copy of a valid driver license for BMV check.

2.  AVAILABILITY:  Beginning June 23 and running through June 30, there are opportunities for all interested volunteers with multiple dates and shifts available.

3.  TRAINING:  Additionally, all volunteers are asked to attend an orientation session during which they will receive information specific to this event, volunteer uniforms, and other instructions.

4.  UNIFORM:  Volunteers will receive a uniform polo shirt that should be worn with self-supplied, clean and well maintained tan khaki pants, shorts or skirt and comfortable shoes.
